The WRSOS has taken on a role to educate people and help prevent harmful interactions with wildlife from happening. Our aim is to inform the public so that we can limit the causes of injury and disease or prevent the well-intentioned but misinformed people from bringing animals into their homes unnecessarily. Care of sick and injured animals is a far less effective tool for promoting health when compared to preventing the problem in the first place.
The Wildlife Hotline helps the public deal with wildlife questions as well as encourages the sustainability of wildlife in their natural habitats.
The WRSOS also hosts an annual education and fundraising event called Gone Wild for Wildlife. This event features lectures, live presentations and many interesting booths from wildlife agencies. Every year you will learn something new at this family orientated event!
